YOU'RE   MICHIGAN   FLORIDA   CONNECTION

I grew up in a little town just east of Saginaw, Michigan called Merrill.  It was a quaint little town, one of those towns where everyone knew everyone.  My parents were hard working people like most in this village. They owned the American Motors/Buick/Case and New Idea Dealership there. 

Now I don't know how many of you remember American Motors but at one time it was quite the car.  In fact, they produced what was called the Nash.  Nash Rambler that is.  And almost anyone remembers that! 

I stayed in Merrill until I reached the age of 21 where I got married and moved to another little area just outside of Saginaw called Freeland.  This was much closer for me to go to Saginaw and we would go there to get our groceries as we didn't really have a grocery store in Freeland.  My husband worked at Dow Chemical and this was in the late 60's.  Working swing shift at Dow was no easy picnic either.  

Eventually he got laid off from Dow and with no income we decided to spend the winter up north in my parents cabin.  The cabin was built back in the 30's and had no insulation but, did manage to have a oil stove.  Running water was a pump that was inside and the bathroom, well, you guessed it, it was an outhouse! 

As many of lifes unexpected turns would have it, years later I found myself here in Florida.  Now, I have to admit I do love the weather much better here and I'm not nearly as cold in the winter as I would be up north.  But buying and purchasing my first home here in Florida was the just beginning of my career.

Thank goodness I had a great agent.  In fact, she was the one that saw the potential that I had to become a Realtor.  Still today we laugh about that first property and the many offers, rejects and homes that we looked at.  She was a shining example for me, and as she mentored me I wanted to become more like her!

Today, she is one of my most beloved friends.
